Describe the interruption

Notice whether the pointer freezes, jumps, moves slowly or disconnects entirely. Check whether clicking still works during the problem. Also note whether the issue begins after waking the computer, connecting a drive or moving the mouse to one side of the desk. Those details make the next test more useful.

Check the battery or charge and confirm the mouse is connected to the intended device. If it has several stored connections, verify the selected channel. A mouse waiting for another computer can look broken even though its own power is fine.

Simplify the physical setup

Try a clean, suitable mouse mat and inspect the sensor area according to the manufacturer's cleaning guidance. Avoid scraping the lens or applying liquid directly. If the pointer improves on another surface, keep that result separate from any wireless investigation.

For a receiver-based mouse, test a direct computer connection where practical instead of an uncertain hub. Keep the receiver away from obstructing metal and nearby interference sources, following the manufacturer's advice. Logitech specifically recommends avoiding obstacles and electronic equipment between its receiver and input devices.

If the problem appears when another USB device is attached, test with that device safely disconnected. Eject storage correctly before unplugging it. Change only one item and note the outcome; removing every accessory together does not identify which change helped.

Compare without erasing the evidence

If supported, try the mouse on another computer or use another known-working mouse on the original computer. These comparisons can indicate whether the issue follows the accessory or remains with the host setup. They are more informative than immediately deleting all pairings.

Use official driver or firmware guidance for the exact model if the basic tests do not resolve it. Avoid downloading a generic driver-repair utility. Record the connection type, computer, battery condition and circumstances for support.

Keep the simplest arrangement that works, then reintroduce the usual hub or accessories one at a time. A reliable mouse matters more than preserving a receiver position chosen only because it was hidden from view.
